BDEC Diabetes Learning Programme
We’re delighted to let you know that there is now a new and exciting new BERTIE learning website available. This is available for anyone to use and contains a wealth of information to help people manage their diabetes. There is also a whole section specifically aimed at teenagers.

If you have already registered for this site, you can now access the new BERTIE Online site using the same username and password as you previously created. This www.bdec-e-learning.com website will remain available for use until the end of 2016, so if you want to finish your learning here you need to do so before the end of the year. Or we would love you to start making use of the new, much bigger and mobile friendly site straight away! To do so go to www.bertieonline.org.uk. To go directly to the site for teenagers go to www.bertie-streetwise.org.uk.

Best wishes and hope you enjoy the new site!

The BDEC team.

Learn Carb-counting online with the Bournemouth e-learning programme!

The Bournemouth Diabetes Team (BDEC) have been running structured education programmes since 1999 to teach people with type 1 diabetes how to match their insulin dose to the amount of carbohydrate they eat. They have used their teaching materials to develop an interactive website, specifically designed to introduce the principles of carbohydrate counting and insulin dose adjustment. The site is ideal for people who wish to learn these principles but do not have access to a local education programme, or as a refresher for people who need to update their skills.

The site has been used by over 30,000 people from all over the UK and further afield. Feedback has been extremely positive with many reporting significant improvements in their quality of life, and diabetes control.

Diabetes UK has reviewed the website and is pleased to endorse it by providing a direct link to the site. We would encourage you to visit the site if you wish to learn more about carbohydrate counting. In order to evaluate its usefulness, we would be grateful for any feedback about any aspect of the site.

This site is free to use and is provided by the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a service to people with diabetes.
